PRE-LOSS CONSULTATIONS
Make sure you are prepared in the event of damage or loss.
Document who you spoke to, what time/date, what you spoke about, and anything else about the contact (mood and attitude of the person you spoke with, explanations offered and if you felt pressured to do or accept something).
Often, the employee relaying information to you will be misinformed. And, while they honestly believe what they’re saying, it is simply not true. If you are told something is not covered, or that your insurance will not pay for it, always ask why.
Review it thoroughly. Ask your Agent to explain what coverages you have and what limitations are in your policy.
Keep copies of all estimates, receipts and invoices. Do not give away originals without keeping a copy on hand for your files.
Your photos can be very helpful if your Adjuster misses something and it is repaired before they see it. Providing Pre-Loss photographs and documentation along with your photos of damage is extremely helpful to document your loss.
